I get what Rivers is saying, but I don't think they watched the games. What I can say is that the stats are misleading a bit. Tatum played tremendous especially when his shots were not falling, and the last finals game he played great. But man... Jaylen Brown with those steals in game 1 and 2 were huge, especially game 1 he set the tone. He himself changed the momentum of the game mulitple times throughout the series and sank the biggest shots of the entire finals and ECF. Tatum played great don't get me wrong, but JB was very deserving of the MVP over Tatum. JT only closed the gap between them game 5. If we wanna break it down JB got game 1 and 2 in his bag. JT got game 5, and game 3 was equal.

Brown Winning Both Mvps Is Nasty Work..... Tatum Averaged Better Stats BOTH TIMES. Everyone Making it like it aint no big deal but I dont see this duo lasting forever after that. Tatum is officially #2 In The Leagues Eyes until he gets 3. And That Can Ruin a mans self esteem cus he's clearly the face of the team. Now He might wanna leave to prove himself without brown. Like a Shaq Kobe Thing.

It drives me nuts that Bill tries to push this narrative that MJ was MJ statistically and we shouldn't throw this out. Sure, you don't have to throw it out, it counts, BUT the reason MJ was MJ was not just because of the eye-popping statistics, YOU HAD TO WATCH THE GAME! It's not just the stats, it's also the defense, the timing, the decision-making, and the crunch-time chops. Bill starts by saying "he didn't look like MJ" but then acts like since his *stats* didn't look bad, that there's no extenuating circumstances. I mean, he had a 3-peat, then another 3-peat, and in the middle was this one random series in which he made significantly out-of-character mistakes that lost them the series. So yeah, THAT is why we have an asterisk next to this series: his TIMING wasn't quite there. Even if the stats looked 98% or 99% of the way there... c'mon, Bill. You even talk about how uncharacteristic these late-game mistakes were. If that's any version of MJ from any of those 6 championship seasons, the Bulls win the series because he doesn't fumble away game 1 OR game 6, much less both. I don't mind the criticism, of course; be honest, that's fine. But it's Bill's odd waffling that bothers me. Saying "he was MJ, the stats tell us that" then also talking about how he made uncharacteristic mistakes... put the pieces together, Bill. WHY was his timing and decision-making not quite up to his standards? Oh, because he'd spent a year and a half away from the game? But then the next year he came into camp back in form and he reeled off another 3peat? Also, he says something about how Jordan should've won 6 and he won 6. I'd argue he "should've" won 8. I'd give him one in '90 had Scottie not had the migraine; without the migraine, the Bulls beat the Pistons, and almost certainly win the Championship. And I definitely think they would've won the title, beaten the Rockets, in '94. If I remember correctly, in '94 the Bulls still had Pippen, Horace, Paxson, BJ, Cartwright, Longley, Wennington, and Scott Williams, plus they added Kukoc and Kerr (one presumes they don't add Pete Myers). In '95 they added Harper, although they lost Horace and it was only the next season that they added Rodman. So I think prime MJ, with that supporting cast in '94, bolstered by the additions of Kukoc and Kerr while nothing was taken off the table, would've beaten Hakeem's Rockets. I'll only give Hakeem's Rockets the title in '95 against the Horace-less Bulls. (And even then... I wouldn't bet against MJ; he's the GOAT. But my point is that I believe you can make a convincing case for a '94 Bulls title, while the Rockets probably deserve the benefit of the doubt in '95.) It is what it is... but I'm just saying, we can make a valid argument that MJ was *unlucky* in "only" winning 6. (Although "unlucky" isn't exactly the right word for '94. But you get my point. I think.)

These dudes want to give Tetum the MVP due to 5 game performance, disregarding that Tetum almost cost the Celtics to lose game 3. Brown had to save, taking over the final 3 minutes. If you're a true Celtics fan, you would know Brown consistently outperforms Tetum in the playoffs. For some reason, Terum struggles to shoot in the playoff.
